Maintain your rig with tire maintenance
It is extremely important to check your tire pressure regularly. As you move the truck, the tires heat up which results in the PSI going above the recommended amount. Check your tires at every fuel up in order to prolong the life of your tires.
Check for tread depth and uneven wear
All tires need to be checked periodically for tread depth to determine when the tire needs to be replaced. A bald tire loses traction and is unsafe. You risk sliding on and off the road with or without water. All steer tires must have at least 4/32 of an inch. All drive and trailer tires must have a minimum tread depth of 2/32 of an inch. To ensure your safety, check your tires tread depth regularly.
Rotate tires and maintain alignment
Drive and Steer tires wear differently. Rotating the tires every other oil change can help prolong the life of the tire by distributing the uneven wear. If you see extremely uneven wear, rotation might not solve the problem. If there is a difference in tread depth of 5/32 or bigger, this is an indicator that something else is wrong. Bring your unit into one of our locations right away for a check and advise.
